IMPHAL, January 7: A 29 year old’s alleged attempt to rape a 15 year old girl resulted in an uprising at Poirou Khongjil Mayai Leikai, under Yairipok Police station Thoubal district, this afternoon around 1:30pm.
The mob tried to dismantle and set on fire the accused’s Laishram Sanjoy’s house, however timely intervention from the police and subsequent blank firing from them blocked the mob violence.
The police found accused Laishram Sanjoy, 29 son of L Lakshman Singh hiding and took him under their custody.
Laishram Sanjoy has his own wife and children.
