IMPHAL, January 25: The 2nd State Level Tribal Cultural Festival ended today with the sounding of a closing gong by Deputy CM, Shri Gaikhangam. Speaking on the occasion, he said that culture is the most unique possession of human being. “Every human being is born and brought up in a cultural environment and cannot survive without culture. Culture fulfils our social and cultural needs and represents the entire achievements of mankind,” he said.
Victor Keishing, Parliamentary Secretary, TA & Hills, Manipur in his speech said our history is linked with songs and dance and it was important to maintain its purity.
Gaikhangam further expressed his pleasure `at seeing different communities joining together and make a festival because it’s a platform to interchange culture, tradition, dance, songs etc. and thus it will help to make integrity stronger.`
The function ended with performances of various solo songs and dance forms of different tribes from the state being showcased.
