UKHRUL, January 25: The Ukhrul District Police Department is proposing an innovative traffic circulation plan in establishing a state of art traffic management center, aimed to beat the traffic load in Ukhrul.
This new venture of the Ukhrul Police came today in a simple but complex “traffic uniform distribution” ceremony held at the campus of the Ukhrul Police Reserve Line at 11: 30 am.
The Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner Sudhan R, IAS distributed 40- traffic uniforms to 40 Ukhrul police personnel in the presence of all ranks and files of the Ukhrul Police Department including the SP K. Kabib, IPS; S. Selvanagarathinam, SDPO; Reserve Inspector, H Chiphang; Traffic OC Vashum Meena.
During the function, the DC encouraged and appreciated the development initiative of the Ukhrul Police Department led by the SP to improve the Ukhrul traffic mobility through the innovative traffic circulation plans and supervising in traffic management flow of working in a unified manner.
The DC also shared that the support of the development of the traffic initiative needs more boost-up through the effort of inculcating a civic public sense of understanding and co-operation for the interest and benefit of the Ukhrul community.
The traffic OC while interacting with this correspondent about the traffic venture, said that the main aim and objective of the plan is to strengthen and develop the Ukhrul Traffic Police to combat the traffic congestion, detours and avoid traffic accidents in order to improve the traffic mobility in places that are very “accident prone” areas.
Meantime, it is worthwhile to mention that traffic congestion and traffic accidents have increased in the district due to the fact that Ukhrul has narrow one-way passages and roads and only one-way-traffic despite the rapid and random increase of vehicles and people population day by day.
