IMPHAL, February 6: A 70 year old man who went on hiding after he allegedly raped an 18 year old girl with disability on January 19 at Hayal Loubuk under Thoubal police station was found at CHC Jiribam with injuries after he met with an accident.
The accused has been identified as Md Islamuddin alias Kora (70) of Waithou Sungomsang and is originally from Keibi. He is said to have converted his religion to Islam after marrying a Muslim woman.
According to the police, they received information that an elderly man on a cycle heavily drunk met with an accident on February 4 at around 6:30 pm near a Masjid at Babupara in Jiribam and who sustained injury had been admitted at CHC Jiribam.
While identifying the person they found out that he is the accused in the alleged rape case of a disabled girl.
Officer-in-charge of Thoubal police station, Dilip has left for Jiribam early morning to arrest him, said a source.
