Better halves of MLAs meets local Tamenglong NGO group

IMPHAL, February 17: For perhaps the first time, the spouses of Minister Works & Transport Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh; Parliamentary Secretary YAS M Prithviraj and MLA Tamei A/C Z Kikhonbou Newmai interacted with the executive members of the Tamenglong Women Joint Action Committee at DC Bungalow on Feb 14 2013.
The members of the Tamenglong Women JAC which is formed under the banner of Zeliangrong Women Union Manipur including the President of the Zeliangrong Women Union, Manipur Aniliu Gangmei; Gen Sec ZWUM Nanibuanliu Moita and Tamenglong District WJAC Convenor Gairiliu Panmei expressed their happiness over the meet. The body was formed to check anti social activities akin to the  ‘Meira Paibi’ in valley districts area.
During the intereaction, the group put forth their demands for the construction of a Hall in the name of Rani Gaidingliu and a girl’s hostel. They submitted that in Tamenglong many unguided girls loiter around and sometimes they fall into the wrong deals. To root out and to up lift the misguided girl, a hostel for them is of the most importance.
Ph Pratima Devi, the spouse of Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh lauded the meet and exchange of dialogue and called for such meets to be undertaken on a more frequent basis for sustainable good relationship between hill and valley people. She expressed that educated and high profile women must continue to visit and interact in hill and valley areas. She continued that more interactions will sure build better relationship between hill and valley people.
Dr Khelena Gurumayum, spouse of MLA, M Prithviraj said that this was her first visit to a remote area of Tamenglong like Tousem. She added that Tamenglong has a huge potential to attract tourists from all over the world. She continued that the tour will surely contribute in strengthening integrity of hill and valley people.
Widouliu Newmai, the better half of MLA  Z Kikhonbou Newmai said  women must visit remote areas and hill districts and look into the nature of the women society. She said that such initiatives will surely fill the gap over the up lift of the women society.
