IMPHAL, February 8: The state cabinet meeting today has given its approval to the appointment of 44 Section Officers in Public Works department (PWD) and to pay the dearness allowance (DA) of the state government employees by increasing it from 58 percent to 65 percent.
This was informed by government’s spokesperson, Education and CAF & PD Minister M Okendro Singh speaking to media persons after the cabinet meeting.
The appointment of Section Officers is specially meant for the Railway expansion project and 33 SOs will be utilized there which are to be selected through Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC), the Minister informed.
From the pending DA for two terms, a new SLAP will be implemented and it will be paid to the government employees by increasing it from 58 percent to 65 percent, he said.
The state government was not able to pay the DA due to financial constraints earlier, the Minister regretted.
The state cabinet today has decided to turn the ‘memorandum of understanding (MOU)’ signed between the state government and work charge employees of state government’s engineering departments into action, he informed.
The cabinet has also taken the decision to start the road construction works of National Highway-53 according to the National Highway Act 1956, he added.
