IMPHAL, February 25: In a press statement, the Revolutionary People`s Front (RPF) has maintained that Manipur and its people were characterized by its self reliance and political will but that after the forced merger to the Indian Union, it has brought in a culture of decadence where the people are loathe to work but eager to make easy money.
The statement further said that the culture of drug use in the state are leading the youth astray and alleged that the manufacture and sale of these substances are being controlled by what it called “Indian agents”. It maintained that the `Indian colonial` forces abetted by the state government which it called a puppet are involved in various ways in the drug scenario in the state. The statement accused that there was a deliberate effort to keep the people of the state dependent on drug use and to bear its impact as it would hamper the revolutionary movement in the state. Pointing out that the movement of huge drug consignments within the state cannot be brought about without the connivance of top officials at various levels, the statement pointed out the earlier cases of drug hauls at Imphal airport. The statement said that the Pallel drug seize that netted Colonel Ajay Chaudhury is enough proof of the involvement of top officials, including that of the Army.
Pointing further that the offer of the security forces for revolutionaries to enter into peace talks was a mere ploy, the statement alleged that such incidences and processes are only being misused and that there are enough cases where security personnel have connived with `revolutionaries` to take up extortion activities on the hapless public alluding to the incident at RIMS earlier when surrendered KYKL-MDF leaders escorted by AR personnel stormed into the RIMS campus. The statement further cautioned the public not to fall into the trap of military civic action programs where security forces dole out charity in terms of sports items, television sets, solar paltes etc on one hand.
