IMPHAL, February 25: The Class XII Board examination being conducted by the Council of the Higher School Education has started from today in the state.
The Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur called a press conference in the evening today at its Keishampat office announcing that the student body conducted inspection tours of certain schools during the first day of the exam.
Speaking at the conference, spokesperson Pukhrambam Premchand said the student body had organized seven teams with four members each and conducted inspection at 14 centres in Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur.
He said one such DESAM team found books and papers outside the windows and toilets of some schools indicating to the prevalence of unfair means during the exam.
He identified the schools as Tomchou Higher Secondary School, Mayang Imphal; Biramangol College, Sawombung; Heirok Higher Secondary School, Heirok and Johnstone Higher Secondary School.
He continued that though some schools had welcomed the student teams, certain centres even denied them entry inside the centres.
Meanwhile, general secretary of the student body Thoithoi claimed that six students of Class X of Regular English Academy of Bishenpur are yet to receive their admit cards even though their board examination will be starting from February 27.
He further alleged that the school which is attached to Bishenpur High School and Khangshinglung High School, Khoupum has already taken Rs five thousand from each student to provide them their admit cards.
He further alleged that the Regular English Academy is registered upto Class VIII by the BSEM but is yet to receive recognition for class IX and X.
The press conference was also attended by the parents of the six students and the founder and teachers of the Regular English School.
Meanwhile, it was decided that the school will pay remuneration to the students for their loss.
