IMPHAL, Feb 3: JAC on Oil Exploration in tipaimuckh area took a resolution on last January 30th after a grand joint meeting of CSOs, HR defenders and other social activists at tipaimukh sub division. The resource person who attended that meeting are Chairperson and co chairperson JAC on Oil Exploration in Timaimukh areas Lalawilien Hmar and Lalhmingthang Hmar, Chairperson Citizen concern for Dams & Dev Dr. Rk ranjan, Dy director Centre for orgn research & education Immanuel verte, committee on protection of natural resources in Manipur and Gen Sec Lifewatch Rajesh.
The JAC resolved that the Govt and Jubiliant Oil and Gas Pvt Ltd should stop all petroleum exploration and drilling activities from the area. Further the GOI and GOM must suspend the contract and license for the same. The resolution also mentioned that no petroleum exploration and drilling without free, prior and informed consent of the common people. It is also mentioned that GOI must ensure its development initiative of the people of grassroot level. The JAC also resolved to repeal AFSPA 1958.
