IMPHAL, February 10: The Kuki Movement for Human Rights has send an open letter to the Union Home Minister with a request saying that it takes a very “strong precaution” against the present political development between the GOI and UNC, as reported by a local daily.

It said the that the Kuki leaders have been observing closely the steps taken by Government of India toward the tribal people living in the North East India and reiterated its stance once again to the GOI to settle first the “Kukis killed by the NSCN (I-M), as the result of the Quit Notice served by the UNC, Manipur on October 22, 1992 where more than 900 innocent Kukis were killed and 360 Kuki villages uprooted and more than 100,000 Kukis rendered homeless”.

The letter states that the Kuki people will never accept any political talks or settlement that the Government of India could reach with the UNC in any circumstances before the peaceful settlement of the 900 innocent Kukis killed, 360 Kuki villages uprooted and 100,000 innocent Kukis displaced by NSCN (I-M) as a result of the UNC`s Quite Notice.

“More than 60 memorandums have been submitted to the four outgoing Prime Ministers of India and to the present Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh”, it said.

“If the present Government keeps dividing and talking with one ethnic group in isolation while leaving the other ethnic groups behind, the Kuki Movement for Human Rights fears it will not stand for peace but to incite communal war between the communities living in the state and the possible agreement made will be taken in support of UNC Quit Notice  which claimed so many innocent lives and caused other numerous damages”, it said.
