IMPHAL, February 11: The Manipur Milk Producer Co-Operative Union Limited has today introduced a range of ice-cream flavors produced in the state.
An ice cream variety called, “Ayingbi” was launched today at the Central Dairy Plant Complex, Porompat today.
The function was attended by Manipur Milk Producers’ Co-Operative Union Limited chairman Dhananjoy Thingomba; Managing Director S Shanti Kumar and Board of Director, K Nabakanta among others.
S Saratchandra, the Diary Development Officer said that after producing only pasteurized milk and curd, it was decided to produce other items which could be appreciated by the general public and that this led to the locally manufactured ice cream flavors making their experience.
Manging Director Shanti Kumar said that the diary plant is produceing ice creams of 50 ML, 100 ML and family packs of 1 litre. The ice cream flavours available are vanilla, strawberry, kaju-Kismish, tutti-Fruity, butterscotch and pista.
He added that the plant is also producing Ice candy and the available flavours are Orange, Pine-apple, Lemon, Mango and Jaljeera.
Prices of the ice creams will be lesser than the brands brought into the state from outside, he said and added that a 50 ML variety will be available for Rs 8 and the 100 ML for Rs 15. “However, the prices of the different varieties with different flavors will range from Rs 13 to Rs 40 with the chocolate flavored Cho-bar costing Rs 25,” he added.
Shanti Kumar further continued that around 3500 cups of ice creams are being produced at the plant on a daily basis with raw materials being in stocked for atleast three to four months as of now. Three agents were also handed with kits during the function.
