IMPHAL, February 23: The Manipur State Legal Services Authority organized a Mega Lok Adalat at Cheirap Court Complex today. According to a release of the Manipur State Legal Services Authority, around 127 cases were put up concerning electricity theft compoundable cases and 34 cases were listed concerning Motor Vehicle Insurance claims cases, including one pre litigation civil case.
Three benches of Lok Adalat were constituted for the purpose of hearing and disposing the cases, the release said. The Mega Lok Adalat settled close to 123 cases. There were 39 cases pertaining to motor vehicle insured claim and one uninsured case against the owner of the vehicle out of which, 34 cases were disposed of in the sitting, it further said.
A total amount of Rs. 28,09,000 was awarded as compensation and the highest compensation awarded in a Motor Vehicle related claim was Rs. 3,60,000, it said.
There were 88 electricity related cases disposed of and a total amount of Rs. 2,46,713 was collected as fine during the course of the sitting, the release added.
