IMPHAL, February 25: The All Manipur PWD Contractor’s Association has submitted a PIL to Guahati High Court on February 21, 2013 regarding the estimated cost of phase VIII of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) program.
In a press meet at Manipur Press Club today, Kh Somendro, Spokesperson of the association said according to an NIT issued on October 15, 2012 the total cost of 50 packages of 5 hill districts under phase VIII of PMGSY program is Rs 203 crore approx.
The estimated cost was made known to the contractors in earlier phases. However, the chief engineer of Manipur State Rural Road Development Agency (MSRRDA) informed the contractors that the estimated cost for phase VIII is locked inside a Godrej and that they can apply the tender referring the approx estimated cost provided in the NIT, he added.
He then said when the estimated cost were given to the contractors there were two different signatures and two different seals of the chief engineer on it. Therefore, the association do not trust the process. Meanwhile, the Guahati High Court has ordered MSRRDA to file an affidavit by March 15, 2013.
