IMPHAL, February 25: The arrest of the PRO Defense Wing, Col Ajay Choudhury along with five others with a huge amount of drugs has unveiled the real face of the Indian government, said a press statement of the PREPAK.
This is not the first instance that drugs have been seized in Manipur, it said and added that this has been continuing for many years now.
The statement continued that even though the drug consignments have been seized, security forces have failed to arrest the owners of the drugs other than some arrests on a few occasions.
It is a known fact that such contraband items are transported by the VVIPs of India and Manipur including central and state security forces, however due to lack of proof, the people have to remain silent on the issue till date, it alleged.
“Yesterday’s incident has proved that only high ranking officials and security personnel are involved in such kind of business,” the statement said. It added that without their involvement, there is no possibility of anyone with drugs and other contraband items making through the hordes of state and central security forces check posts along the National Highways.
It said that India is waging war against Manipur from two sides, the first one is to kill anyone by branding the person as a terrorist and the second one is by means of a drug war by introducing drugs to the Manipuri people. The second one is more dangerous than the previous one, it continued.
The statement signed by its assistant secretary, publicity and propaganda has further praised the Manipur police for their effort against drug.
It has further appealed to the general public to encourage the police on such issues.
