Refresher Course in Life Sciences concluded

IMPHAL, February 11: The valedictory function of the 21-day Refresher Course on `Global Warming, Climate change and Biodiversity` organized by the UGC-Academic Staff College, Manipur Univeristy and sponsored by UGC was held today at the University.

The function was graced by Prof. N. Irabanta Singh, Dean of School of Life Sciences; Prof. G.K.N. Chhetry, Head of Department of Life Sciences; Prof. M. Mani Meitei, Director of UGC-Academic Staff College and Dr. Kananbala Sarangthem, Associate Professor of the Department of Life Sciences, MU as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, President and Course coordinator respectively.  In all, 35 delegates from various colleges, institutes and universities from Manipur and outside participated in the program. Sixty one resource persons from various disciplines delivered lectures on various area of climate change, biodiversity and recent trends in life sciences, health sciences and environmental sciences. Delegates were also provided skill development programs to train and equip themselves in the context of the scientific world. In the valedictory function, Prof. Mani Meitei highlighted the necessity of individual roles in solving the complex global issue from holistic approaches. Prof. Irabanta Singh stressed the role of teaching community in imparting education and academic advancement of the country and the world at large.
