IMPHAL, February 5: A report “People’s Review: Performance of State Government and Commitments under Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)” compiled and collated by a group of NGOs: Community Network for Environment (CONE), Human Rights Alert, Manipur (HRA), Human Rights Law Network (HRLN), Manipur Alliance for Child Rights (MACR), Sustainable Livelihood Forum, Manipur (SLF-M) and United Voluntary Youth Council (UVYC)was today released at the Manipur Press Club.
The report is compiled with reference to the UPA Govt. policy when it came to power in 2004 known as Common Minimum Program CMP and Millennium Development Goals MDGs of UN.
The reports have foccussed on 9 states of India, which are especially identified as among the most backward, including Manipur. The review process was on eight targets which remains a gap in the Government development work. The foccussed areas are : Manifesto of the ruling party of the state, broad commitments of the state and national govt. to end poverty, Right to education, Budgets, MGNREGAct, the ST and other traditional forest dwellers Act 2006, National rural health mission and national rural land mission.
