    IMPHAL, February 13: The Silver Jubilee of the North East Zonal Cultural Centre under the theme “Culture for peace” was organized by the State Department of Arts and Culture at the Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre today.

    The celebration was attended by MP Dr Th Meinya and Arts and Culture Commissioner RK Nimai on the dais and participated by cultural troupes from the communities of Mao, Maram, Meitei, Kom, Thadou, Thangkhul, Kabui, Monsang and Maring.

    Speaking at the celebration, the MP said that arts and culture and sports identify our state before the outside world.

    “The observation of such festivals provides a platform for the different communities of the state to exchange their views and culture helping cement the bond among themselves,” he said.

    Since such festivals bring the different communities together, the celebration has been organized under the theme “Culture for peace”, he said.

    RK Nimai in his speech said the North East Zonal Cultural Centre has always been helping in promoting the culture and traditions of the different communities of the state.
