IMPHAL, February 11:A press meet was held today in connection with the celebration of the Silver Jubilee of Zonal Cultural Centre at Imphal on February 13 2013 at the office of Director, Art & Culture, Manipur Palace Compound. Director NEZCC, Dimapur Som Kamei said that the purpose of existence of Zonal Cultural Centre is to preserve and promote performing arts of North Eastern region of India. He said that its HQ is in Dimapur which was inaugurated by the then PM of India Rajiv Gandhi.
He said that Manipur as a member of the NEZCC will organize a performing arts show on feb 13. He said the participants from 9 different communities like Tangkhul, Maram, Tarao, Monsang, Maring, Kom, Kabui, Thadou and Meitie will choreograph together with the theme ‘Culture For Peace’.
Director Art & Culture, Manipur K Sobita Devi said Manipur as member states of NEZCC profoundly celebrate to preserve and promote culture. She added that it fortunate that Manipur chapter had the chance to celebrate on its silver jubilee. She said that the choreograph of the 9 communities of the state will showcase the linkage in each cultural performing arts and highlight it to the public. She said that culture is an effective media. There will be about 150 participants from all over the state.
