JIRIBAM, February 7: Around 300 Village Defence Force personnel in Jiribam have also joined in the cease work strike today in demand of a pay increment.
Announcing their decision to lay down their weapons, the VDF Welfare Association, Apunba Jiribam called a press conference and said that the step has been taken up as in other parts of the state.
Representatives of the association further appealed to the state government to consider the reasonable demand of the VDF personnel in the state. The representatives also appealed that their higher up officials should stop from making the VDF personnel to perform unofficial duties.
