Truck driver, handyman kidnapped

IMPHAL, Feb 5: A combined team of Assam Rifles and the state police are conducting a search operation of the jungles near the M Songlung village, near the Saparmeina Police station after unidentified persons kidnapped the driver and the handyman of a Tata truck from along the National Highway 2 this evening.
The truck bearing registration no NL 01 G 89914 and involved in the transportation of sugar for the FCI was waylaid and the driver and handyman kidnapped from a place about 2 kms south of the Saparmeina PS.
While the identities of the driver and the handyman are yet to be established, the police have picked up the truck which was abandoned.
AMSU opens branch
IMPHAL, Feb 5: The All Manipur Students’ Union has in a release said that a meeting of the students at Kakching Khunou Bamon Leikai on Sunday resided AMSU HQ president Thokchom Suresh has formed AMSU Kakching Khunou branch.
The meeting has elected Khumukcham Japan as president, Kodar Maring as vice president, Kumukcham Thoungamba as general secretary and other five executives for the term 2013-2015 of AMSU Kakching Khunou branch.
