3rd Medical Society Conference at RIMS

    IMPHAL, March 9: Prof S. Sekharjit, Director RIMS today inaugurated the two-day 3rd Medical Society conference at the RIMS Jubilee hall. The theme of this year`s conference is “Preventing kidney disease”.

    On the occasion, the Director announced that RIMS shall be liberal in sponsoring such academic exercises. The amount of the expenses have been doubled this year and it will still be bigger next year. He also said that since the conference is held in March, many senior students cannot take part as examinations are held in this month usually. He suggested to advance the schedule of the conference from next year so as to accommodate the senior students. He said that it was very encouraging that there are enough research papers for publication in the Journal of Medical Society. He shared the concern with other speakers that there is a high rise of kidney diseases in Manipur perhaps due to change in life style and other factors.

    The conference will be concluded tomorrow.
