IMPHAL, March 16: 32 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) distributed solar street lights to the village council of Hengshi village which is located in a remote area in Joupi sub sector of Chandel district on March 13, 2013.
In a statement of PRO, the solar lights were handed over to the Hengshi village council under Assam Rifles Military Civic Action Programme, by Commander 28 Sector. During the occasion the Commander interacted with the villagers and exhorted them to cooperate with the security forces in bringing peace and harmony in the area.
He also interacted with the school going children and enquired about the educational facilities available for them in the area. The kind gesture by Assam Rifles was appreciated by the villagers who expressed happiness as well as gratitude for the Assam Rifles, it added.
