BJP opts out of non-Congress allaince

IMPHAL, March 5: Despite having no elected MLAs or MP in the State, the Bharatiya Janata Party (Manipur State Committee) has dropped out from the conglomerate of the non-congress parties today.

The BJP which plays a pivotal role in major issues affecting the State has opted out from the unification for reasons unknown. Credible sources mentioned that a meeting of the non-congress parties was held at Manipur Peoples Party office at around 4 pm today.

The announcement to drop out from the unification came into light following a telephonic conversation intimating the Janata Dal (United) state president Tombi Singh by the BJP State President Thounaoujam Chaoba during the course of the meeting.

It may be mentioned that the political party representatives had deliberated on the drug influx into the state along with the supplementary budget which is to be presented at the Assembly session beginning tomorrow.

The next meeting of the political parties have been fixed on March 15, 2013. After the BJP’s exit, the remaining parties are CPI, CPI(M), MPP,NCP, LJP, JD(United), JD (Secular), BSP, AITC , MSCP and theShiv Sena.
