IMPHAL, Mar 11: Courts in the state remained closed for the day as in other states following an instruction from the Bar Council of India.
Lawyers in the state under the High Court Bar Association, Manipur stayed off work as directed by the BCI. Lawyers in Subordinate Courts also stayed off work.
According to a source, the one day cease-work strike was called in protest against physical abuse of lawyers by police in Chandigarh and Rajasthan some days back.
The protest was staged in Delhi on March 7.
