IMPHAL, March 1: Deputy Chief Minister who is also the state Home Minister, Gaikhangam along with Minister Commerce & Industries and Sericulture K Govindas, DGP Y Joykumar Singh, Principal Secretary Home Dr J Suresh Babu and other officials inspected to soon to be rehabilitation centre for surendered militants at Bisnupur Chothe village today.
The area which is under the constituency of Minister K Govindas was earlier occupied by 27 bn CRPF.
The 10 acre compound already has infrastructure for rehabilitation like boarding, playground etc.
During the inspection, Dy CM Gaikhangam said that the area will accommodate a good number of surrendered outfits.
He also said that the selected area has beautiful scenic views and is very spacious for quality rehabilitation.
He said that the purpose of visiting and inspecting the place was to ensure ‘seeing is believing’ for setting up a quality rehab centre.
The state govt had earlier announced to set up rehabilitation centres in 4 districts of the state. Mention may be made that on February 13, 197 outfit cadres comprising of 90 URF cadres, 40 KCP Lamphel and 67 KYKL/MDF cadres had surrendered to the state govt with a memorandum of understanding at the 1st MR Banquet Hall.
