Painting competition on role of woman

IMPHAL, March 24: The Chanura Microfin Manipur (CMM) today organized a painting competition under the theme “Role of Manipuri woman” in connection with its 6th foundation day at the Main Stadium at Rose Garden, Khuman Lampak today.

The said competition was open to all school children between the standard of class VI and X. The prizes will be distributed along with certificates on the 6th foundation day on April 4, 2013 and are set at Rs 15,000 for first position, Rs 10,000 for second and Rs 5,000 for third positions, and 10 consolation prizes of solar lamps.

At the sideline of the competition BK Khuman, CEO of CMM said the agency has provided micro finance to more than 14,000 older women and it aims to improve the economy and contribute towards facilitating women empowerment in the state. In the previous foundation day, the agency has distributed solar lamps to 5 orphan homes.

The objective of the painting competition is to encourage the young painters in the art that they like, give them a chance to examine and understand the role and status of the women, he added.

Rajkumar Ajayraj, Class X of Don Bosco School, Chingmeirong; Mutum Bindia Chanu, Class VIII of Catholic School, Canchipur; and Shougaijam Santosh Singh, Class VII of Grace Cottage Cultural and Educational Development Foundation, Thoubal secured the first, second and third position respectively in the painting competition today.
