The inaugural session was attended by E Tomba Singh, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Government of Manipur; and Prof Th Bedamani Devi, president Working Women Forum, Manipur as chief guest and president respectively.

Speaking at the occasion Dhanabir Laishram urged to acknowledge our perception on women.

Environment and Women Movement are the two largest issues at present. The contribution of women is large, he said.

Free flow information and free mobile capital has become the largest instrument of globalisation. It is important that women involve in political participation to attain women empowerment, he added.

During the occasion Dr Chinglen Maisnam expressed that there are very less number of toilets specially made for women in public places.

Even if many spoke about safeguarding “women’s ejat” the conversion of it into action is very less, he said.

Today the women society is facing many hardships. Unless modernisation of human value and globalisation are changed women empowerment would not be attained. Why the three women MLAs could not produce gender budget? Let us try to produce gender budget, he added.
