IMPHAL, March 12: The inauguration function of a prayer program called “Transformation of Manipur” organized by the Faith Ministry was held at Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre today. The said program will be conducted every evening at 5 pm till  March 14, 2013.

Speaking as chief guest at the function, O Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur said he had agreed to take part in the program as it was indeed a need of the hour. “Manipur is inhabited by multi-ethnic community since time immemorial living in peace and harmony. They should sacrifice their self interest for the betterment of the community and the state which is very scarce now,” he said.

The successive governments in the state have taken up several developmental activities ever since the country gained independence, he said while adding that economic conditions have also improved and transformed the state considerably. “The present government has also exerted all efforts to usher in proper and equitable development of the hills and the valley. In spite of these massive all-round economic developments in every sphere of our lives, the general public appears to have lost the age old virtues of the olden days such as mutual trusts, love and concern for others. This needs to be addressed seriously by all concerned,” he added.

The CM then went on to say that  modern amenities and material possessions have failed to give the people of Manipur the desired life that everyone  is after. and added that the initiative taken by `Transformation of Manipur` may be helpful to bring back mutual trust, love, and concern and restore the spirit of self sacrifice for each other in the state.
