JIRIBAM, March 2:Hundred of villagers from Uchathol, Harinagar and Ningshing Khul at Jiribam held a public meeting today at Harinagar community hall and resolved to expel a VDF of Ningshing Khul accused of killing his brother`s wife from the village.
Oinam Tomba (20) s/o late Oinam Lakshminarayan from Uchathol and presently shifted to Ningshing Khul had a fight with his brother Oinam Ratan (28) on February 28 last. Tomba reportedly beat up his sister-in-law Sangita when she tried to stop the fight and she succumbed to her injuries that she sustained.
The written decisions taken in the meeting with signatures of the villagers were submitted to concerned authorities and the OC of Jiribam Police Station. The decisions included that Tomba should be given befitting punishment and for prevention of such crimes in the future, he and his family members should be expelled forever from the three villages.
The dead body has been kept at Silchar Medical College for post mortem. Meanwhile, Tomba is still absconding.
