IMPHAL, March 13: A team led by Dr Kh Ratankumar, Minister Works/Transport including Francis Ngajokpa, Minister Rural Development and Panchayati Raj; T Bishorjit, MLA of Thonju A/C; the Additional Engineer and officials of PWD visited Senapati and Mao Maram and inspected NH 39 today.
During a meeting held at the DRDA conference hall after the inspection, Dr Kh Ratankumar said the road construction of Maram Bazaar to Taphou which is 27.02 km long on NH 39 with an investment of 33 crores approx is done by the Hokato Naga (HN) Company based in Dimapur.
The first work order of the road construction was issued on April 3, 2010 however the department terminated the work on March 30, 2012 since it was not satisfied with the work. A litigation was filed regarding the issue and a case was taken up, he added.
He then said the state government further sanctioned another 7 crores to maintain the highway after being approved by the Chief Minister so that the construction could resume while maintaining the quality and with a time frame. So far around 3 km of the highway has completed been and another 5 km will be added before the rainy season, he said.
During the meeting, Francis Ngajokpa appreciated Naga People Organisation, Senapati District Students’ Association and Town Committee for their cooperation and requested to hold responsibility for overseeing the quality of work and any other issues related to the process of the highway construction.
“At any point of time, please approach me for any problem. If any individual disturb in the work deal with zero tolerance”, he said.
