IMPHAL, April 27: The All Manipur Transport Department and Motor Vehicles Employee Union called a press conference today at the office of the State Transport Department regarding an order made by the State Government recalling A Shivadas Sharma as Dy Director administrations of the department.
Speaking to the media at the press conference, H Otlong Khongsai general secretary of the AMTD alleged that A Shivadas Sharma, a former deputy director of the Department from the Year 2010 till February 2013 had misused the funds allotted for the renovation of the transport office and the construction of a room for High security number plates inside the Manipur State Road Transport Complex (MSRTC) complex.
He continued that A Shivadas Sharma also misbehaved with other officers and employees of the Transport Department when he was holding the same post earlier and was not able to produce the account statement of the time period that he was in charge.
The Department and the Union members of the transporters body held an emergency meeting on April 17 after a Government order to re institute A Shivadas Sharma as the deputy director of the transport department and a resolution passed to strongly oppose the order which was then submitted to the State Principal Secretary Director Transport and Transport Minister along with an appeal not to send A Shivadas Sharma as the Deputy director. Adding that employees have been staging sit in protest against the Government order from April 22 till today, H Otlong Khongsai decried that there was no positive response from the Government so far. He added that the protest taken up by the employees will continue unless and till the Government order is withdrawn and another person appointed in place of A Shivadas Sharma.
