Bullet ridden body recovered

    LAMKA, April 9: Churachandpur police today picked up one unidentified dead body of a man at Tuithapi village in the out skirts of Lamka town. The man bore bullet injuries on his right waist and chest which forced part of his intestines to come out .The man who is about 5 feet in height was well built and is dark complexioned.

    Villagers said they heard gunshots around 10 last night. Police recovered 8 empty cases of 5.66 caliber bullets from the place where the dead body was found.

    The Officer in Charge of Churachandpur police station, Elvi Tunglut said that after receiving a report about the incident, the police went to the crime scene at Tuithapi village at around 9.00 am and picked up the dead body and deposited it at the Churachandpur hospital morgue. Even though many people had come to see the dead body there was no claimant of the killing or the corpse till the filing of this report.

    It has further appealed to the people of Manipur to come out to pay homage and respect to the martyrs and uphold the love and unity amongst the hills and valley of Manipur.

    It has also appealed to people to put a memorial light at their gates in the evening and not to organize any entertainment programs on the day except for religious purposes.
