IMPHAL, April 30: The South East Asia Cultural Organisation (SECO) has sought clarification regarding the recently held fashion show “Elegance of the Indigenous” where ten foreign models walked the ramp at Bheigaychandra Open Air theatre (BOAT) in which the models wore indigenous and ethnic dressed “in such a way that the other people of the world might be mislead after they see the attire.”
Speaking to the media at a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club, Kojam Brojen President of SECO said that the models wore the ethnic dresses in manner that exposed their body which was not in accordance to the manner that the people of the state wears them. ” Such portrayals can mislead others about our ethnic dresses,” he said.
He further said that the organizers of the said fashion show event must give a clarification over the matter within five days.
