IMPHAL, April 19: The inaugural function of the computerization of land records of Lamsang, Patsoi and Wangoi Sub-Divisions of Imphal West District was organized today by the Government of Manipur, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West District at Kuranganayani Hall of DC Office Complex, Lamphelpat today.
The occasion was presided over by Dr Kh Ratan Kumar, Minister Works and Transport, and graced by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and K Radhakumar Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Imphal West District as Chief guest and Guest of honor respectively.
Speaking at the occasion Ibobi Singh said that efforts are on to complete the implementation of Manipur Land Reform and Land Revenue Act (MLR & LR Act) in the valley within the current financial year i.e. by March, 2014 as a pilot project.
The land in the valley which is less than 10% of the total land area of the state should be used very economically. The Government has active consideration in the matter of land use and reforms, and experts are being consulted on how to protect agricultural land, he continued.

“The matter will be brought up in the Cabinet Meeting tomorrow to find out the number of villages in Imphal West District which are computerized,” he said and added, ” the Settlement Department should immediately transfer the land records for the remaining villages to the concerned DCs and do the survey later.”
He then appealed the people to lend their co-operation so that the land records of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur and Churachandpur could be computerized by March, 2014, for the safe maintenance of the records.
During the occasion, Dr Kh Ratan Kumar said computerization of land records will ensure transparency and effectiveness in maintaining the records and access to them quickly and with less efforts.
