LAMKA, April 10: The bullet riddled body that was deposited at the CCPur Hospital Morgue by the police yesterday has been identified today. The dead body has been identified as that of one Lalthangrem Hmar (40) son of (L) Kambuang of Kwaklung village in Cachar Hills of Assam.
Relative who identified the body said that the deceased had been on a visit to Lamka for the past two weeks and was staying at a relative’s house at Saidan village which is next to Lamka.
On that fateful day, he reportedly failed to return after he went out for marketing.
Lalthangrem Hmar is survived by his wife Tleite and five children.
The last rite of Lalthangrem will held tomorrow at Saidan.
The body of Lathangrem Hmar was handed to his family late in the evening today after post mortem at the district hospital and a case was registered with the Lamka Police Station.
Till late today, no organization/group had owned up responsibility for the killing.
The relative said that they had no knowledge of the decease having any enmity with any one and further added that he had come purely on a visit to his relatives with no business activity known to them.
Meanwhile the Tuithapi village where the murder took place, today made a press statement condemning the killing and more importantly said that they failed to understand the reason why their village was used as a place for the murder which they said does not go down well with them.
The president of YPA Tuithapi unit Songliansang said that this is not the first time that Tuithapi area had been used for such an act and said that they will not tolerate another such incident again in their area.
