IMPHAL, April 10: The Governor of Manipur, Gurbachan Jagat, in a statement has conveyed his heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of “ Sajibu Nongmapanba (Cheiraoba)”, the Manipuri New Year’s Day.
He further wished that this occasion be a harbinger of peace and harmony in the State. “Many incidents occurred which could have broken the bond between different communities but people have maintained their sanity and violence has been avoided. On this Sajibu Nongmapanba let us adopt new resolution for a better Manipur which all citizens should strive,” the message read while also expressing his wish that the occasion be celebrated in its true spirit and will make an era of peace and prosperity.
