IMPHAL, April 4: Two powerful improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by activists of underground organizations at different places were discovered today and consequently, casualties were averted.
The first IED was planted under a culvert above Merakhong along the Imphal – Jiibam road under Patsoi police station of Imphal West district. It was found by 18 Sikh Regiment personnel on foot patrol attached to Patsoi PS. It is said that as soon as they informed the police, bomb experts of the police rushed to the spot and the bomb was disposed of at around 12.25 p.m.
The second IED was planted at the roadside of Imphal-Ukhrul road near Shangkhai Kuki village under Litan police station of Ukhrul district. It was planted in a pressure cooker but bomb experts defused it safely.
