IMPHAL, April 10: Manipur Excise department officials and personnel consigned a large number of Indian made foreign liquor, beer and local made liquor today at the Lamphel Excise Department complex in the presence of the state police.
Speaking to the media, Assistant Commissioner Joykumar said that the lot of IMLF bottles, beer, and local made liquor were handed over to the state excise department by the police stations of Imphal West, Imphal East, Lamphel and City police station and included five and half cases of quarter IMLF bottles, six cases of beer bottles, four cases of Diablo canned beer, five cases of half rum and whiskey bottles, four cases of full bottles, 228 liters of local made liquor and another 720 liters of local made liquor.
The Assistant Commissioner said that in the recently concluded financial year, the government had set a target of 8 crores and 59 lakhs as a revenue which was met considering that the department had collected a revenue of approximately 9 crores 96 lakhs 49 thousand and 946 rupees and was able to arrest 1,868 personal involved in alcohol related cases, further collecting a revenue compound fine of 30,70,950 rupees.
He further said that the Department is thankful to the state police personnel for seizing liquor and handing them over to the Excise department.
He further expressed his desire to work together along with police personnel in carrying out such drives against the sale of liquor in the state.
