IMPHAL, April 22: The Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat has greeted the people of Manipur, especially the Jain brethren on the sacred and propitious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, 2013 while pointing out that Lord Mahavir was an outstanding apostle of peace and non-violence and he showed the path to salvation through love, compassion, benevolence, forgiveness, mercy and renunciation of all materialistic elements.
He noted in his message that Lord Mahavir’s teachings transcend all barriers of caste, creed and religion and he preached the everlasting message of peaceful co-existence of all mankind.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has also greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion.
In the message, he mentioned that Lord Mahavir was an apostle of truth and righteousness and Lord Mahavir, through his divine life and teachings showed the path of right conduct, non-violence, peace and universal love.
He further said that his teachings are relevant at all times to emancipate mankind from sufferings and to ensure peace and happiness through spiritual excellence while urging that on this occasion, we should imbibe Lord Mahavir`s teachings for promoting peace and enduring happiness of humanity.
