IMPHAL, April 25: The Meetei Eenatki Huyel Langlon Sindam Shanglen (MEEHULS) observed its silver jubilee at Khongman, Okram Chithek today and paid floral tribute to the photographs of belated Thang-Ta experts.
The occasion was graced by Thongam Biswajit, MLA Thongju A/C as Chief guest, Okram Manglem Meetei, Chairman MEEHULS as President, and attended by Ningombam Kishan, Bashikhong ZP; Prof Dr Paonam Gunindro, Meeteilongi Loishang Puba, MU; Prof Dr Naorem Iboton Mangang, Dean CAU, Iroisemba; and G Gourakeshor Sharma, Padma Shree (Thang-Ta) as guests of honour.
Speaking at the occasion G Gourakeshor Sharma said Thang-Ta is an art which is to be observed minutely. It has been recognized worldwide but its proper research is yet to be done, he said while pointing out the need to preserve it.
