IMPHAL, April 30: The People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak has wished the farmers of Manipur and the world on the occasion of May Day, said a press statement of the outfit.
It has further said that the outfit supports the movement for the rights of farmers.
Farmers and workers make the most important strata of the society, the statement said and added that the farmers and workers act as the backbone of society.
It continued a state may not have a rich society but a state cannot exist without the farmers and workers.
Elaborating on the start of the workers’ movement, the statement said that the movement was first started from the United States in the earlier period of the 19th century.
The respectable status of the farmers has today seem to be lost, it said and added that people selling vegetables grown in their own fields are today hiding their faces and on the other hand the sellers are acting as if they are more respectable.
Such practices has bred people who want to live without working, it said and further added that “consumer networks from outside” have today established market places at any available location.
The situation has only aggravated and it has also affected the working habits of the people, the statement said.
