Victim of kidnapping attempt calls for due action

IMPHAL, April 19: Ram Khadka a non-local pharmacy salesman  from Saikul and presently staying at a rented house at Lalambung Makhong Khoirom Leikai who was stabbed and abandoned at Thoubal Moijing after being kidnapped from a place near his rented place of stay at around 6:05 pm on April 17, 2013 addressed media today at Shija Hospital where he is recuperating from his injuries.

“When I was walking home after returning from my work, I was stopped by three unknown persons on RIMS Road near my rented house. They asked me to remain silent and pushed me inside a Maruti Van. They demanded Rs 1 Lakh which I said I dis not have,” Ram Khadka said while recalling the incident. He then went on to say that the 3 men then asked for Rs 80,000, then Rs 70,000 and at last Rs 40,000.

Pointing out that the three kidnappers were not familiar to him, Ram further added the three claimed to be cadres of PULF and URF and said that rather than looking like to be UG cadres, they looked more like persons who were into drug use.

After refusing to pay the demanded amount, he said he was then told to write the names of some medicines on a piece of paper. Later, he was taken to Thoubal Moijing in the Maruti Van and kept in a house where they started beating and stabbing him with knife, he continued and appealed the government to arrest and punish the kidnappers so that such acts do not repeat in the future.
