IMPHAL, April 7: “The lifeless body of our daughter has been handed over to the JAC and the public. The issue of my daughter’s brutal killing has now become a public issue. Let my daughter be the last to have faced this kind of brutally and we pray that this kind of crime does not happen again in this land. In regard to the brutal killing of our daughter, we will not compromise on any condition with the killer or the authority.”

This was said by Satyabhama’s mother Leitanthem Ningol Ningombam Ongbi Phajabi Devi and her father N Tomba Singh to the JAC members and people who were gathered today at around 4:30 pm at Kakwa Lamdaibung Lampak.

Meanwhile, according to a JAC member, the bandh imposed by the JAC initiated against the alleged brutal killing of Ningombam Satyabhama, a junior research fellow of the DBT project in the Pathology department of RIMS, will continue further.

The JAC member said that JAC had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister yesterday and demanded to fulfill their demands mentioned in the memorandum within five days time counting from yesterday.

The JAC member further said that they will not take the dead body nor will they end the state wide bandh until and unless their demands are met.

Meanwhile, even though a case was registered at Irilbung police station on the same day that late Ningombam Satyabhama Devi’s body was recovered from Bashikhong Wangkhei Loumabi Loukon on April 5, the “Special Investigation Team” led by an Additional Superintendent of Police initiated to investigate the case has failed in establishing  the identities of the culprits as of now.
