IMPHAL, April 23: Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Manipur has said in a press release that people are fully aware of hardships and difficulties to be faced during the imposition of bandh on National Highways but having no other option, the bandh has been called in order to register people’s protest against the irresponsible Government and RPF/PLA. “Had there been government intervention and a timely response from the RPF/PLA, then the ongoing total bandh could have been averted,” the release said.
It went on to say that several appeals have started coming from different angles to lift the total bandh but pointed out that it was imposed only when the RRF/PLA failed to honour the voice of the people. It cautioned that the deployment of security personnel or providing escort without taking into conisderation the sentiments of the people shall be considered as measures to suppress the people movement through military means.
