IMPHAL, May 29: A discussion on Armed Forces Special Powers Act as a side event of the 23rd Session of the UN Human Rights Council was held today at the Palais des Nations.
A statement from Babloo Loitongbam of Human Rights Alert has said that the meeting went off very well with participants raising critical questions.
The report of the UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial executions is expected to the presented tomorrow as the schedule was being pushed back a bit, it said and added that Neena Ningombam secretary Extrajudicial Execution Victim Families Association, Manipur will also be participating in the general debate and making a presentation in the UN Human Rights Council on behalf of the Asian Legal Resource Centre and the Extrajudicial Execution Victims Association, Manipur.
