IMPHAL, May 9: Nongpok Keithelmanbi Area Chingmi Tammi Apunba Lup, Kuki Inpi, Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) and JAC against the murder of Seitinlal Kipgen and Tongsat Haokip has warned to call for an indefinite general strike/bandh all over the state from 4 pm of May 10, 2013 if the government fails to ascertain the killers.
Informing this in a press meet held at Kuki Inn here today, M Apanbi , Co Convenor of the Lup said Kipgen (50) and Haokip (37) went to search for their cattle on April 29 last and never returned. A complaint was lodged at Yairipok PS and followed by a memorandum submission to the Chief Minister which met with no response.
Following the discovery of the two dead bodies on May 8, 2013 in a decomposed state at the top of Nairenkok Hill in Nongpok Keithelmanbi, a discussion was held on the day where it was resolved that the government should inform the JAC and the people the reason for the deaths within 48 hours, she added.
She then said there has been no inquiry done yet and if such incidents continue to happen it cause panic to the people of the area and worry that how they would live under such circumstance.
During the press meet, Henga Kipgen, Convenor of the JAC said if the government was responsible then at least the dead bodies would have been recovered not in decomposed state. The people of the area where there are problems for communication, transportation and other facilities, has been neglected by the government.
“Do the government not exist for the poor people?”, she asked and appealed the government to conduct an inquiry regarding the incident. If the government is unable to ascertain the killers and the reason for the killings of Kipgen and Haokip, then the JAC will support the indefinite bandh, she said.
