IMPHAL, May 14: Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who also holds the portfolio of the Home Ministry assured that no untoward communal violence of any sort will not be allowed to take place in Charachandpur though some anti social elements have instigated incidents which led to hostility between two particular communities out of the various communities living together in harmony since many years back from May 6 to May 10.
Five leaders of the Meitei Council, Churachandpur, Ng. Rajen, Advisor, Heman Kulla Singh, President, Kh. Ranjit, Joint Secretary, Ch. Bijen, Secretary Organisation and Thoiba Singh, Finance Secretary Moirangthem officially met with Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam at about 9 a.m. Nabachandra, President of United Committee Manipur (UCM) was also part of the team meeting with the Deputy Chief Minister.
During the meeting, representatives of MSCCPUR handed over to Deputy Chief Minister copies of leaflets written in red ink and spread from May 6 to May 10. They also went into detail about the incidents wherein some persons were in a bid to set a hotel and a shop on fire at two places while submitting to Deputy Chief Minister statements of condemnation by Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) and Zomi Students’ Federation (ZSF) etc based in Charachandpur.
The representatives of Charachandpur District Police complained to the Deputy Chief Minister that Superintendent of officer-in-charge of Churachandpur district police did not try to bring the culprits who instigated communal hostility to book .
After listening to the team of representatives, Deputy Chief Minister assured the team that such undesirable incidents will not to be let to be repeated.
It was instructed to take up stringent precautions against undesirable incidents not to take place during Ibudhou Maikeinganba ceremony which commenced from yesterday at Khumujamba Meitei Leikai.
On the other hand, a meeting of public leaders at the office of Tuibung of Chairman Lankhanpao Guite of Autonomous District Council/ Churachandpur with regard to incidents which occurred in the district tomorrow at around 1 p.m. will be held. Mannuamching, ADC of Chief Executive officer (CEO) officially invited community leaders to attend the meeting without fail.
