IMPHAL, May 20: Elections for new office bearers of Thangmeiband block Mahila and Youth Congress was held at the residence of MPCC secretary , Jyotin Waikhom at Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai today.
The election was participated by many congress workers from Thangmeiband constituency. The formal function was attended by Md Ammir Hussain, president of Youth Congress as the Chief Guest. The guest of honor was M Priyomala, present president of Mahila Congress. Secretary of MPCC, Jyotin Waikhom was the president of the formal function.
The program included enrolling of new members to the Youth and Mahila congress, followed by distribution of Congress worker identity cards. Later, the elections were held in consensus by voice nomination. The newly elected President of Mahila Congress was unanimously conferred to Kumari Aribam Jibonlata Devi and to Ibom Nongthombam for the President of Youth Congress.
MPCC secretary , Jyotin Waikhom told media persons that this is an exercise of strengthening the Congress party even more at Thangmeiband constituency and maintained that the participation from the public is astoundingly high. Many have come to the fold of the Congress from other political parties, he added.
The voting elected 12 office bearers for the Mahila Congress and 20 members for the Youth Congress for Thangmeiband block.
