IMPHAL, May 9: The All Manipur Progressive Farmers’ Association today called a press conference at its Keishampat office announcing the association’s suggestion on the state government’s decision to formulate a new Agricultural Land Use Policy for the state.

Addressing the conference, president Joy Nongmaithem said there are reports regarding the formation of a core committee for the formulation of a new Agricultural Land use Policy.

He said, the newly formed core committee is supposed to submit its report after three months of survey to the State Agriculture Minister who in turn will submit it to the state government for discussion.

Lauding the government decision, he said in the past the state had self-sufficient production, however today due to the ever increasing population and shrinking size of the agricultural lands, there has been less production of commodities and as such there is an urgent need of a proper Agricultural Land Use Policy in the state.
