LAMKA, May 15: The Agriculture department, CCpur today conducted a farmer training program under the “National Food Security Mission Rice 2012-2013” at the training hall DAO Office complex, Tuibuang CCpur.
Many farmers from the district attended the meeting where the chief guest Vungzagin Valte, Parliament Sec. (Hort, & SC, CADA) Govt of Manipur spoke on the importance of shunning and changing the old age practice of Jhum cultivation or shifting cultivation, which he said, will not be sustainable in the long run and added, “We must make use of the new technological advance which is working wonders for the farmers.”
He continued that more than Rs 100 crore which are earmarked for the department are now being examined so that it could be utilized in the best was possible for the development of agriculture and added that being the son of an agriculturist himself, he is aware of the importance of agriculture had on the people of the area.
Maniram Sharma CCpur Deputy Commissioner said that being a product from the agricultural belt of Rajasthan and son of a farmer, he strongly believed that the best things will be the implementation part of agriculture policy which should reach the village level for which everybody need to pay a part.
The functional president, Langkhanpau Guite Chairman ADC Ccpur said that he was very hopeful that the training will be of benefit to the farmers present.
